How to View Google Analytics

Access Google Analytics

To get access to your analytics account, you must have a Google (e.g., Gmail) account. You may use your personal account but we suggest you use a general account for your unit. A Google account can be created using a Mason email, if preferred. Configuration work you do in one account (setting up reports, etc.) is not automatically available to a viewer who uses another account.

Write chssweb@gmu.edu and tell us the Google account that will be accessing the analytics with. We will write you back when we have granted access to that account.

Go to https://analytics.google.com. Log in with the Google account.

You will see the Google Analytics home page for the first property available in your account. Using the account selection box, you can access other accounts and properties that you have been given access to. The property for your site will be located in a folder labeled "Mason College of Humanities and Social Sciences 01", "Mason College of Humanities and Social Sciences 02", or "Mason College of Humanities and Social Sciences Centers". These folders will contain one property for the data for each of your sites. Each property tracks only one site.

Receive Analytics Emails

Each website covered in the Google Analytics CHSS accounts has a dashboard, built within Google Analytics, available showing a set of key metrics available for that site. You can opt to receive this dashboard in a scheduled email each day, week, month or quarter. These emails stay active in Google Analytics for up to one year and can then be renewed for one year at a time. Please email chssweb@gmu.edu for assistance in setting up this feature.
